The Employee Recognition Awards highlight staff members who embody the district’s values and commitment to student learning. Nominations are open to every staff member in Battle Ground Public Schools. The selection criteria include commitment to the district’s mission, contribution to a safe environment, support for high-quality instruction and collaborative behavior demonstrating trust and respect. Kristi Adams, teacher at Yacolt Primary School
When a parent in her classroom community faced some serious challenges, Kristi provided consistent encouragement, kindness and emotional support. Her thoughtful gestures and nurturing presence help students feel comforted, supported and valued during difficult times.
Erika Carey, crossing guard at Captain Strong Primary School
Though she has dedicated more than 20 years to serving her community as a crossing guard, Erika continues to build meaningful connections with the students and families every day. Her longstanding service and genuine care for students are truly exemplary.
Jean Haley, basic education assistant at Chief Umtuch Middle School
Jean Haley is recognized for the kindness and compassion she brings to her work with students. Her caring approach helps children feel safe, valued and comfortable seeking her support when they face challenges.
Justin Kendall, bus driver with First Student
Through his warm greetings, encouragement and genuine pride in students’ accomplishments, Justin helps children feel seen and valued. His calm and caring presence makes bus 76 a safe and supportive space for young riders.
Alison Pierce, band teacher at Tukes Valley Middle School
Alison Pierce demonstrates excellence in music education through her leadership of the band program at TVM. In addition to directing concert band, she successfully stepped into the role of jazz band director, guiding students to continued success at jazz festivals while maintaining high musical standards.
